Hunting for Vintage Guitars Since the 90’s

Before online marketplaces, social media, and instant price guides, finding a great guitar in the 1990s meant one thing — The Hunt.  The search often began in dusty pawn shops, small town music shops and classified adverts buried deep within the pages of local newspapers.

Back then, buying vintage guitars was far from convenient. There were no smartphone photos, no online listings and no quick way to compare prices. Instead, it relied on instinct, experience and countless miles on the road. A promising advert might simply read, “Old Gibson guitar for sale” or “Fender electric, good condition” That was enough to send Alan and Mark Grace chasing leads, never quite knowing whether they would uncover a forgotten treasure or just another well worn instrument. The thrill was always in the unknown. 

One day it could be an old guitar hidden away in a cupboard, the next a forgotten case tucked beneath a bed, untouched for decades. Every visit, every phone call, and every road trip carried the possibility of discovering something truly special, and somewhere between road trips, long haul flights and guitar shows Graceland Guitars was born. 

For us At Graceland Guitars, that same passion for uncovering exceptional vintage instruments remains unchanged. While the market has evolved, the excitement of the search and the appreciation for guitars with history still drive us today. Whether part of an old collection, passed down through generations, or simply forgotten over time, every vintage guitar has a story that isn’t yet finished….
